Laser markers

Virmer offers its customers a wide range of laser markers for processing metals. This can be precious metals, aluminum, steel, etc. For processing organic materials, almost any type of equipment is suitable while to process metals, fiber laser machines are mostly used.

Fiber laser machines have the highest productivity of all types of laser equipment. The reason for this lies in its design and operating principles. The usual system of creating a light beam by means of mirrors has been replaced by the finest fibers. Thus, the possibility of generating light beams with another wavelength has appeared, allowing to speed up the laser machining by many times. Moreover, the technology is capable of processing materials that earlier were considered to be hard for treatment.

ConsultationWe will be happy to help with the choice

The model range of laser equipment is expanding in proportion to demand. Earlier machines were used in large productions only and required a specially equipped room for operation. Now laser equipment can be purchased for any production needs and volumes. There are large format machines and desktop models available. Regardless of the scale of production, we will always help you to find the most optimal solution.

What material is suitable for laser processing?

Versatility is the main advantage of fiber equipment. It can process almost any item, but most often, it is used for machining metals. Fiber machines can easily engrave and mark precious, non-ferrous, and ferrous metals.

We recommend paying attention to reflective properties of the material to be processed. According to this parameter, the machine’s power should be chosen. The higher the reflectivity is, the more powerful laser emitter is required.

Marking or engraving?

Both types of metalworking can be done with a fiber laser machine. When engraving, the particles of the material are vaporized by the high temperature of a laser beam. Thus, an image is transferred in depth. Vaporizing occurs immediately, and with each repeated impulse of a laser beam, the image becomes deeper.

When marking, the material is melted, and an image is applied to the surface. This treatment slightly changes the metal surface properties. A laser beam affects the material and provokes oxidation, causing the surface of the material to change its hue. Marking is often used in jewelry workshops.

Advantages of engraving

Laser engraving is the most convenient and high-quality way of transferring an image to an object. This type of treatment is suitable for both metals and non-metallic materials.

The main advantages of laser-engraving equipment are:

Types of laser engraving

The most common types of laser engraving are:

The outline method’s advantage is the minimum power input and high performance. At the same time, unlike the raster one, it does not allow high precision of the image.

How is color marking obtained?

A lot of our customers are interested in color marking, but most of them do not know how it is performed and what equipment should be ordered for this task.

Note, that color marking can be performed on those metals that are prone to oxidation only. These are precious metals, stainless steel and some others.

Color marking is based on the principle of beam refraction. The laser affects the metal by varying the temperature, which provokes the appearance of oxide layers of different colors. The degree of saturation and color depends on several factors:

Color engraving is performed on fiber optic laser machines. CO2 laser machines are not intended for such tasks.

When choosing a machine for color engraving, you should pay attention to the emitter manufacturer. For example, as standard, the Wattsan FL TT and the Wattsan FL ST are equipped with a MAXPhotonics emitter that is not capable of performing color marking due to the narrow range of laser frequency. However, the machines can be upgraded by installing Raycus or IPG emitter instead. IPG is considered one of the best options for color marking, because its emitters have wide range of laser frequency. Using the emitter, you can get the most complex colors and hues without losing performance. The result is of the highest quality due to the optimal power of a laser beam.

What machines can be used for engraving?

Modern equipment for laser engraving is divided into two types.

Let us take a closer look at the fiber type of laser machines as they are in higher demand in the market.

It is worth noting that CO2 machines are also quite suitable for engraving. The Wattsan CO2 LT allows engraving logos and images at high speed, but it cannot process metals. CO2 laser machines are intended for treating non-metallic materials such as textile, leather, wood, glass, paper, etc.

Advantages of a fiber optic laser machine

Where is fiber laser equipment used?

Fiber optic machines have a wide range of applications. The large selection of capacities and dimensions specially tailored to individual production purposes has made this type of equipment the leader on the market.

Scopes of applications:

Fiber optic laser can be used for manufacturing both a single item and serial products.

Today, laser markers are one of the most popular types of laser equipment used in both small workshops and large manufactures. Despite the ease of operation and quite simple design, fiber markers have some specific features that affect the process of material treatment and final product. It is important to understand them when choosing a fiber machine for particular tasks. The carefully selected equipment guarantees the best results and fast payback.
